As the celebrations ended and 2025 began, the Nevada State Police launched their "Drive Sober, or it's Over" campaign, focused on deterring impaired driving during the holiday season. In a recent social media post, the Nevada State Police shared statistics showing that within 24 hours, from noon on December 31, 2024 to noon on Wednesday, there were 49 DUI arrests during 1,358 traffic stops, which also resulted in 999 citations and 10 additional arrests. The data highlighted the focus on enforcing safe driving during the holiday period.
The effort to keep Nevada's streets free of impaired drivers was a focused one. The Highway Patrol Division's data shows a concerted effort to address the link between celebration and unsafe driving. However, the 49 DUI arrests highlight an ongoing issue: despite efforts to raise awareness about the risks of impaired driving, the problem persists. The Nevada State Police reminded the public that each decision behind the wheel is important, with poor choices leading to potential tragedy and responsible choices helping to prevent harm.
This enforcement effort is part of a broader initiative focused on public awareness and safety. According to the Nevada State Police, driving under the influence is a preventable risk. As 2025 continues, the Highway Patrol Division reaffirms its commitment to its mission: “saving lives and changing behaviors on our roadways.”
