Heads up, foodies and skyline enthusiasts: New York City is bringing back a unique dining experience that combines grand views with gourmet bites. The city's only revolving restaurant atop the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, known as The View, is slated for a grand return, and it's set to spin once more with an infusion of culinary talent and a fresh look courtesy of Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG).
Handle by USHG—the brainchild of esteemed restaurateur Danny Meyer—The View's comeback features a menu that boasts American classics given a modern, "theatrical twist." According to Eater, the culinary operation will be led by celebrated chef Marjorie Meek-Bradley. Diners can anticipate an array of new dishes including a selection from the raw bar, showstopping desserts, and time-honoured favorites executed with contemporary flair.
West coast transplant Meek-Bradley brings a wealth of experience to The View's kitchen, fueled by her time within influential kitchens across both coasts. From her beginnings in California to making a name for herself in D.C., and her stint on "Top Chef," her culinary journey has been steeped in both innovation and reverence for classic techniques. She now aims to make The View a rotating tribute to the panorama of American cuisine according to Eater.
As for the space itself, The View's renovation promises to spruce up this iconic location. After its establishment in 1985, alongside Meyer's USHG, it's fitting that the two are now aligning to reinterpret the restaurant's legacy. A spiral staircase, a lively bar on the 48th floor, and live music paired with fine dining on the 47th floor are just few of the features teased to the public. "By combining culinary excellence with warm hospitality, we intend to create a destination dining experience and evening out – smack dab in the heart of the Broadway Theater District – that appeals to New Yorkers and visitors alike," Meyer stated, according to 6sqft.
While the expectations are high, the local and travelers alike are betting on The View providing a matchless mix of succulent eats and the drama of the city's skyline—a promise made easy to make from 48 floors up. For those eager to experience a meal that comes full circle, both gastronomically and visually, the wait is nearly over. The View is scheduled to open its doors again this winter, revealing both its storied past and reimagined future.
