
The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) reported a shooting incident on West Anaheim Street that occurred in the early hours of January 5, 2025. According to the official police blotter, officers responded to the 600 block of the street around 2:49 a.m. and discovered a male with a gunshot wound to the lower body. The victim's injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, and he was swiftly transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire Department personnel for treatment.
The preliminary investigation points to an incident where the male victim and a female victim were standing outside when a vehicle approached them. The assailant, still unidentified, fired shots from within the vehicle, hitting the male victim before fleeing the scene, as reported by the Long Beach Police Department. Detectives are currently piecing together suspect information and trying to unravel the motive behind the attack.
In related news, the LBPD also seized two firearms during a traffic stop on January 4, which, as per the police blotter, occurred at around 4:29 p.m. on the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Anaheim Street. After conducting the stop, officers uncovered two handguns and placed two individuals under arrest. The report did not specify the charges the suspects face, but the investigation is ongoing.
