A Missouri man has entered a guilty plea to charges linked to the sexual abuse of a young child and the production of child pornography. Jacob J. Hampton, a 32-year-old resident of O'Fallon, acknowledged his involvement in these disturbing criminal activities last Thursday, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

The investigation into Hampton's actions began after cyber tip-offs pointed to the presence of illicit child sexual abuse material stored in online platforms; subsequent law enforcement efforts uncovered a series of videos and images. Hampton was caught on his own hidden camera committing abuses against an 8-year-old girl, and he was also found in possession of additional exploitative content gathered from the internet. Hampton's offenses has led both defense and prosecution to agree on recommending a sentence of 25 years in prison.

As part of his plea agreement, which was detailed on the U.S. Attorney's Office website, Hampton will be slated for sentencing on April 22. This case was thoroughly investigated by the FBI, St. Charles County Police Department, and the St. Charles County Cyber Crime Task Force, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Jillian Anderson led the prosecution efforts.

This case was an integral part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 aimed at addressing the escalating crisis of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The initiative brings together the collaborative efforts of U.S. Attorneys' Offices and the Department of Justice Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, leveraging federal, state, and local resources to better detect and bring to justice those who engage in these heinous acts while striving to identify and safeguard the young victims of such crimes.
