The Oklahoma City community recognized two public safety employees for their service. Mayor David Holt, the OKC City Council, City leadership, and the South Oklahoma City Kiwanis Club acknowledged a police officer and firefighter for their dedication to the residents of Oklahoma City, according to the City of Oklahoma.

Sgt. William Reyes of the Oklahoma City Police Department was recognized as Police Officer of the Year for his actions during an incident on the Exchange Avenue bridge. He saved a man from a 40-foot fall, responding quickly and, with the help of two citizens, preventing the fall. Lt. Nathan Fields said, "Sgt. Reyes acted without concern for his own safety, placing himself in great peril, as he could have easily been pulled over the railing by the man’s weight," as reported by the City of Oklahoma.

Capt. John Chenoweth of the Oklahoma City Fire Department was named Firefighter of the Year for his work as an assistant public information officer, providing accurate information to the public. Oklahoma City Fire Chief Richard Kelley praised his efforts, saying, "Capt. Chenoweth’s focus on promoting life safety and ensuring our community stays informed reflects his unwavering commitment to excellence." City officials and the community have recognized both Capt. Chenoweth and Sgt. Reyes. Those interested in public service careers can visit okc.gov/careers, okc.gov/fire, or joinokcpd.com for more information, as stated by the City of Oklahoma.
