
East Hollywood witnessed a distressing incident at 1319 N Harvard Bl, where a walkway attached to a two-story apartment complex suddenly gave way. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene at approximately 10:26 AM after the partial collapse, which affected three housing units. According to LAFD Alert, one individual was injured during the incident and subsequently transported to the hospital, though the specifics of their condition were not disclosed.
Upon arrival, the LAFD engaged in a technical rescue operation, which involved the use of ground ladders to assist residents trapped by the collapse. Further updates from the department indicated that the rescue team was constructing shoring to prevent further structural failures. The LAFD Urban Search and Rescue units were also deployed, ensuring no additional sections of the building suffered the same fate.
The collapse prompted immediate attention not just from firefighters and paramedics, but also from the LA Department of Building and Safety, tasked to evaluate the building's integrity.
