Operation Boo Dat 2024, a multi-agency effort led by Crimestoppers Greater New Orleans and the U.S. Marshals Service New Orleans Task Force, has led to 51 arrests. The operation, running from October 22, 2024, to January 18, targeted individuals with felony sex offender registration violations and other serious crimes, according to the U.S. Marshals Service release.
Among those arrested were Kevin Dubon-Carrasco, charged with sexual battery, and Michael K. Brooks, facing aggravated battery and first-degree rape charges. Jalil Jonas Williams, involved in a second-degree murder case, was also captured. The operation also resulted in the safe return of a missing 13-year-old girl and the detention of a 16-year-old male for suspected gang activity and immigration violations.
The operation involved local law enforcement, including the New Orleans Police Department, Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, along with federal agencies like Homeland Security Investigations. Compliance checks across parishes helped ensure that sex offenders followed their release conditions. Some arrests stemmed from tips received by Crimestoppers GNO.
"Operation Boo Dat demonstrates the commitment of the U.S. Marshals Service, Crimestoppers GNO, and our local law enforcement to protect our communities from violence and exploitation," said U.S. Marshal Enix Smith III in the same release. Crimestoppers GNO shared a photo spread of 31 fugitives, helping capture 11 of them, while 20 remain at large. The public is encouraged to continue providing tips.
