Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is receiving an $84.3 million grant from the Airport Improvement Program for upgrades, including a new 2,100-foot taxiway bridge. This funding is part of the legislation crafted with input from Senator Mark Kelly, according to the Senator Mark Kelly's Office.
Phoenix Sky Harbor, serving over 38 million passengers annually, will receive funding to reduce flight delays and improve aircraft movement. "Phoenix Sky Harbor is a critical gateway, connecting Arizona to the world," said Senator Kelly, noting that "This funding will expand the airport’s capacity, reduce delays, and ensure safe and efficient operations for travelers and businesses, all while supporting good-paying jobs and strengthening our economy." Representative Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ-3) called the investment a key step for the airport, adding, "This investment is a significant step forward for the future of Sky Harbor, a gem in Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District," and emphasizing, "In Congress, I’m dedicated to securing resources that improve our infrastructure, create good-paying jobs, and ensure a more sustainable future for our District," as stated by the Senator Mark Kelly's Office.
Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego expressed gratitude for a federal grant to fund the construction of a new taxiway at Sky Harbor Airport. She said, "This grant will enable us to complete construction on a new taxiway at Sky Harbor, which will help us achieve even faster connection times, fewer delays, and a more seamless travel experience for everyone flying through the Valley." The grant is part of the Airport Improvement Program, funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, aimed at improving airport infrastructure and Air Traffic Control systems nationwide, as reported by the Senator Mark Kelly's Office.
