Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has taken a step beyond just being a transit point. Marking its 90th anniversary since its acquisition by the City of Phoenix, the airport has introduced the Culture Corner, a space celebrating Arizona's cultural diversity, right in the heart of the airport. This innovative arena, located post-security near Gate F3 in Terminal 3, is set to host a range of activities, including live art, performances, and more, all at no cost to travelers looking for an enriching layover, as reported by the City of Phoenix.
The inaugural event of the Culture Corner, the "Learn & Go session", is scheduled on January 17, featuring the Phoenix Sister Cities Taipei Committee. According to the press release, from 2-4 p.m., the committee will showcase live demonstrations of calligraphy, paper folding crafts, and even making children's hats. The diversity and dedication of Phoenix to showcase cultural richness isn't just an add-on; it's becoming part of the traveler's experience for those passing through.
Such cultural engagements are not new to the airport, which sees the confluence of daily international and domestic passengers. Besides the monthly programming in the Culture Corner, the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport also hosts the "Traveling Tunes" program in the same space, much to the delight of music lovers. Organizations keen to participate in the festivities and share their unique cultures can contact Culture Corner staff by reaching out to [email protected].
More details about the Culture Corner can be found on the airport's website.
