The city of Plymouth is buzzing with anticipation as the 15th-annual Fire & Ice Medallion Hunt officially kicks off. The hunt, which draws locals and visitors alike, started on January 9 and will continue with clues dropping every Thursday throughout the month, as reported by the City of Plymouth's official website. Working off these clues, participants set out to locate the hidden medallion, which is placed on city property but not in plain sight.
The hidden treasure will not be made any more visible after snowfalls, meaning that hunters will have to be to thoroughly wipe away powder to uncover its location. The lucky individual who manages to find it first is set to receive a $250 prize, with no registration or payments required to join in on the fun. Once the medallion is found, the finder should immediately contact Plymouth Parks and Recreation at the phone number provided on the event page.
This scavenger hunt is part of the broader Fire & Ice Winter Festival, which is scheduled for February 1, from 3-9 p.m. According to the City of Plymouth, the event will be held at the Plymouth Creek Playfield and will feature an array of activities, including games, entertainment, and food, culminating in a fireworks display.
The first clue for the Medallion Hunt, which sets the stage for the search, reads, "Another winter without much snow, not very Minnesotan, dontcha know. But we have something sure to be fun, out in the park you can walk or run. The Fire & Ice Medallion has found a new spot, now get out and search, just give it a shot." This was published on the event's page early in the morning on January 9. And with this cryptic tip, participants now eagerly comb the parks and public spaces to uncover the prize and claim their victory in this cherished local tradition.
