The National Weather Service in Portland has delivered a comprehensive forecast for the coming days, highlighting a consistent rain pattern and potential snow mix for the region. According to their latest update, Portlanders should brace for wet weather with 100% chances of precipitation and varying snow levels that may affect travel and outdoor activities.
As of the early morning hours, the city sat under a calm, clear sky with temperatures hovering at a chilly 27°F. However, the National Weather Service predicts a shift, with mostly cloudy conditions today and a high near 44 degrees. Calm winds are expected to persist. This serene setting is merely the calm before the storm; rainfall is slated to drench the city beginning tonight, with temperatures falling to around 40 degrees before rising later in the night and precipitation amounts reaching up to half an inch.
A wet Friday awaits, with a continued downpour and high gusts reaching up to 24 mph. The forecast doesn't let up over the weekend either, as rain is anticipated to continue. The snow level will drop to 1200 feet by Saturday. The tumultuous weather persists well into next week, with snow levels fluctuating around 600 feet and a high likelihood of rain and snow mixing until at least Wednesday. The latter half of the week could see snow accumulation, although little to no accumulation is expected beforehand.
The coming weather patterns suggest residents should be ready for various conditions, from steady rains to the possibility of a snowy landscape. As temperatures dip by Saturday night, reaching a low of around 33, the NWS forecasts a chance of rain and snow with little accumulation expected. But by Sunday night, snow mixed with rain becomes a more tangible possibility, complicating early-week commutes. Residents, always hopeful for a glimpse of the sun amid the gray, will need to hold out a while longer as the forecast suggests umbrellas and rain boots will be the gear of choice.
