A Queens man has been brought up on charges for the murder of a Bronx woman, a crime that took place within the tragic proximity of her three young children. Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced that Lamont Wilson, 46, faces accusations of second-degree Murder, first-degree Manslaughter, and fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, following the fatal stabbing in the victim's Highbridge apartment.
According to a statement from the District Attorney's office, the alleged assailant and the victim, Britney Webb, 38, were friends before the incident that ended in violence. Locked in a bedroom with her 5-year-old daughter as her other children slept elsewhere, Webb became besieged by Wilson, who managed to force entry and proceed to attack her with a knife. Carrying the stain of bloodshed, the dispute left Webb with 15 stab wounds, delivering an end as horrifying as it was untimely.
Wilson's indictment was detailed before Bronx Supreme Court Justice George Villegas, where he was remanded without bail. The justice system's gears are now turning towards a court appearance set for May 13, as the prosecution prepares its case. Senior Homicide Counsel John Miras leads the charge, with oversight from various ranks including Burim Namani, Christine Scaccia, James Brennan, and Theresa Gottlieb.
While an indictment is not conclusive proof of guilt, the burden of proof now lies on the legal proceedings. Acknowledged by District Attorney Clark was the work of NYPD Detective Patrick Flatley of the Bronx Homicide Squad and Detective Jeckson Dorville of the 44th Precinct, whose efforts are foundational to the case against Wilson.
