An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal shooting in Raleigh last month. Joshua Reed Blackwell, 37, was arrested on Wednesday and is facing a murder charge after Deantonio Orlando Mursuli, 33, was fatally shot on December 23 in the 2600 block of Cedar Forest Way, according to an abc11 report.
Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene following the shooting at Cedar Springs Apartments. The CBS 17 reports that Mursuli was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Court records cited by The News & Observer do not specify a motive for the shooting, nor have they explained the delay between the incident and Blackwell's arrest nearly a month later.
Blackwell is currently being held without bail at the Wake County jail, with additional pending charges including possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of methamphetamine, and trafficking opium or heroin. Joshua Reed Blackwell was scheduled to make a first court appearance yesterday afternoon.
