Last night, Rocklin residents may have mistaken the sound of New Year's fireworks for gunfire, as local police responded to reports of shots fired near High Street and Pine Street. In a statement posted to their Facebook page, the Rocklin Police Department informed the community that officers arrived at the scene after receiving multiple reports of gunfire. However, upon investigation, no evidence was found to support the claims, and all parties involved were cooperative.
The initial police activity notice, advising people to stay clear of the area, led to some tension among households preparing for New Year's celebrations. The uncertainty was further compounded by the quick police response and the subsequent closure of both High Street and Pine Street to traffic as a precautionary measure for public safety. According to a social media post from the Rocklin Police Department, the area has since been cleared, and the street closures have been lifted, allowing normal traffic flow to resume.
No injuries or arrests were reported in connection with the disturbance, and the police department has not released further details about the incident.
