
On Tuesday evening, a routine patrol by a Nevada County deputy led to the interruption of a burglary at a Nevada City residence. The Nevada County Sheriff's Office reported that two individuals were arrested and later booked on multiple charges including second degree burglary.
The deputy, whose proactive vigilance allowed them to quickly respond to the unfolding crime, first noticed suspicious behavior at a house located on the 13000 block of Sadie D Dr. In a move to swiftly to stop the crime, additional deputies were called to the scene. One suspect, Everette Shane Nelson, 53, of Nevada City, was accosted at the front door and detained. His accomplice, Anna Rochelle Newman, 36, of Grass Valley, was inside the house but exited and was detained after receiving verbal commands.
A thorough inspection of the premises, aided by K9 Riggs, confirmed there were no additional suspects on the property. The incident occurred in the absence of the homeowners. According to a social media post from the Nevada County Sheriff's Office, Nelson now faces charges for second-degree burglary (459 PC) and possession of unlawful paraphernalia (11364(a) HS). Newman has been charged with second-degree burglary (459 PC), false personation of another (529(a) PC), carrying a switchblade knife (21510(B) PC), possession of unlawful paraphernalia (11364(a) HS), and her existing no-bail felony warrants out of Petaluma and Santa Rosa.
