
San Antonio residents are bracing for a drop in temperature and mixed precipitation as the area faces a forecasted change in weather conditions. The National Weather Service reports that, after a mostly cloudy Martin Luther King Day with a high near 38 degrees, the evening could bring rain and sleet, transitioning into snow mixed with possible freezing rain and sleet later at night.
Temperatures are currently sitting at a cold 26 degrees Fahrenheit with humidity at 42%. Winds from the east at 12 mph contribute, to a wind chill of 15 degrees Fahrenheit, making outdoor conditions feel significantly colder. Monday night expects a 90 percent chance of precipitation and gusts that might escalate up to 30 mph. The forecast includes new ice accumulation of less than 0.1 of an inch and less than a half inch of new snow and sleet accumulation.
Going into Tuesday, San Antonio could see a continuation of snow and sleet before 9 am, followed by a slight chance of snow until noon. Although the skies are expected to clear gradually, with a high near 39 degrees, the north wind could reach up to 15 mph, with possible gusts as high as 30 mph. Overall, the chance of precipitation sits at 30%, with little to no additional snow and sleet accumulation expected.
The weather service forecasts that conditions will improve by Wednesday, offering sunny skies and a temperature high near 46 degrees. The calm winds of Wednesday night will lead into a sunny Thursday with a high reaching 55 degrees. Similarly, Friday will remain sunny, with the temperature climbing to near 59 degrees. As the weekend approaches, San Antonio anticipates a mostly cloudy Saturday, with a high near 68 degrees and continuing cloud cover into Sunday.
