Law enforcement in San Bernardino made a startling discovery early Thursday morning when deputies investigating threats happening in a residential neighborhood stumbled upon a substantial cache of firearms. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, the deputies were responding to a call about criminal threats and ended up uncovering a significant, illegal arms manufacturing operation.

The suspect, identified as Allen Hilbert, a 44-year-old resident of San Bernardino, was detained at his home on the 4100 block of North 3rd Avenue after threatening to kill a neighbor with a firearm. Upon obtaining and serving a search warrant at Hilbert's residence, deputies found an arsenal of 87 firearms which consisted of illegal assault weapons, stolen guns, sawed-off shotguns, and a number of 'ghost guns'—firearms without serial numbers that are difficult to trace, as detailed by the SBSD Central.

Hilbert has since been arrested and booked at Central Detention Center on multiple charges, including Criminal Threats, Manufacturing Firearms, Manufacturing of Short Barrel Rifle, and Possession of Stolen Property, as per the SBSD Central. His bail has been set at $50,000. The Sheriff's Department is asking for anyone with further information regarding this case to reach out to Deputy Humberto Miranda at the Central Station or anonymously through the WE-Tip Hotline.
