Authorities have apprehended two individuals, Jarek Hawksley, a 40-year-old resident of San Clemente, and Rachel Kolb, 39, from Joshua Tree, on a string of drug-related charges. This followed an incident involving a 14-year-old male who ingested psilocybin mushrooms and subsequently required hospitalization. According to a statement by the SBSD Morongo Basin Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to reports in the 2500 block of Desert Shadow Road in Joshua Tree on Tuesday, where they found the teen victim.

During the initial investigation, deputies uncovered an indoor operation for cultivating psilocybin mushrooms at the residence. They promptly called the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Marijuana Enforcement Team to swiftly obtain and execute a search warrant. The comprehensive search resulted in the discovery of numerous firearms and ammunition, ecstasy pills, marijuana plants, and a significant quantity of what is suspected to be psilocybin mushrooms, weighing around 80 pounds, as detailed by the SBSD Morongo Basin Sheriff's Department. Associated paraphernalia, including a scale and various denominations of currency, was also seized from the property.

The suspects, Hawksley and Kolb, face charges, among them sales of a controlled substance, unlawful cultivation, and possession for sale of psychedelic mushrooms. Booking information reveals Hawksley was held at Morongo Basin Jail, while Kolb's detainment took place at West Valley Detention Center. The precise charges include violations of penal codes HS 11378, HS 11390, and HS 11391, all related to controlled substances.

In the aftermath of the raid, the Sheriff's office is actively seeking additional information. They encourage anyone with knowledge of the case to contact deputies N. Hospodar and N. Kridner, with the option to remain anonymous through the We-Tip Hotline. Details regarding the incident, and how to report any relevant information, can be found on the Sheriff-Coroner's official press release.
