The City of San Luis has recently shone a light on street safety by completing the installation of new LED street lights along County 22nd Street. The upgrade, which spans from 4th to 10th Avenue on the northern side, aims to bolster visibility for drivers and pedestrians alike, as reported by the City of San Luis.
In collaboration with Arizona Public Services (APS), the city has retrofitted 18 existing poles with LED fixtures. This green-lit project, clocking in at $24,260, promises not only brighter nights but also a more energy-efficient and cost-effective future.
According to an announcement by the City of San Luis, a temporary traffic signal is in the works for the crossing at County 22nd Street and 4th Avenue. While this interim solution is yet to be seen, officials are laying the ground for a permanent traffic signal to eventually take its place.
Once equipped with both enhanced lighting and better traffic control measures, County 22nd Street will undoubtedly become a safer passage for "community members, particularly during evening hours," as stated in a San Luis official release.
