Deputies in Santa Clara County have taken several ghost guns off the streets, escalating concerns about untraceable firearms in the area. According to a social media post from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Valenzuela initiated a routine patrol check that became a significant weapons seizure. On Monterey Highway, the deputy encountered a suspicious vehicle with shattered windows and scattered items around the area, prompting further investigation.
The individual present at the scene, who stood by a vehicle with no license plates, was found to have multiple firearms illegally. Although he claimed there were no firearms or illegal items in the car, a physical inspection by the deputy revealed a loaded magazine visible through a broken window. Additional backup was called, leading to the discovery of six ghost guns and various firearm parts and components. The man, who had a history of firearm-related offenses, was detained and later arrested, facing "18 new felony charges," as stated in the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office's post.
The suspect, a convicted felon recently released for similar crimes, now faces additional felony charges.
