The Santa Monica community was dealt a heavy blow early Wednesday when a man, believed to be in his 30s and homeless, was tragically shot and killed following a heated argument with a woman. According to KTLA, the incident took place around 1:30 a.m. on the 200 block of Broadway. The circumstances escalated when a suspect, described as a male White or Hispanic in his 20s, confronted the victim, chasing him into the street and firing the fatal shots.

In a statement released by the Santa Monica Police Department, captured by the city's official press page, "the suspect was last seen running northbound in Alley 2 and out of sight." In the moments following the shooting, authorities arrived and attempted to save the man's life, but despite their efforts, he was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. As of now, the victim remains unidentified, and the search for the suspect is ongoing.

Investigators are working diligently to piece together the incident, reviewing witness statements and surveillance footage in hopes of identifying the parties involved. The police urge anyone with information to come forward, providing contact details for Detective Reyes and Detective Sergeant Lozano, as well as the Watch Commander, available 24 hours a day for tips, the City of Santa Monica noted.
