The National Weather Service in Seattle forecasts a decidedly soggy day ahead for the Puget Sound region, with steady rain expected to persist until the late afternoon. As reported on the NWS website, rain is due to taper off briefly after 4 p.m., following a day wherein the humidity levels will hover around 87 percent and temperatures will peak at a mild 49 degrees Fahrenheit. Morning travelers were also urged to exercise caution due to patchy fog before 9 a.m., which could swiftly reduce visibility on the roads to six miles.
According to tonight's forecast, Seattle will experience a "slight chance of rain" before 2 a.m, followed by a brief respite from the precipitation which will then make a possible return after 4 a.m. Residents can expect partly cloudy skies and a low settling around a cool 38 degrees, with a light south southeast wind gently moving at 3 to 5 mph. In a change from recent weather, the chance of rainfall is only pegged at a low 20 percent.
Going into the weekend, the NWS indicates a continuation of the dreary pattern, albeit with a decreased likelihood of showers. On Saturday, forecasts show only a 20 percent chance of morning rain before yielding to partly sunny skies with a high near 46 degrees. Light breezes will persist, setting the stage for what many hope will be an agreeable, albeit gray, Pacific Northwest weekend.
The start of next week promises to bring some relief from the dampness, with the NWS forecasting mostly sunny skies on Monday and relatively consistent temperatures that appear to slightly climb to the mid-40s. Nightfall will deliver partly cloudy conditions, with low temperatures forecasted to consistently draw near to a brisk 34 degrees. As we look towards Thursday, there's again a slight chance for rain to return to Seattle's weather narrative, but mostly sunny skies are still to be generally enjoyed.
