The National Weather Service in Seattle has provided a detailed forecast for the region as temperatures remain chilly and visibility has been notably reduced. Early this morning, conditions were marked by a dense fog with visibility down to a quarter mile, and temperatures were recorded at a biting 28°F. The humidity at the time stood at 100%, and there was hardly any wind to speak of, coming from the south at just 3 MPH, according to the latest update by the National Weather Service.
With the fog set to dissipate, the NWS anticipates a shift toward mostly sunny skies today, reaching a high near 43°F, the light breeze lingering between north at 3 to 7 mph as we move through the hours; tonight's forecast calls for clear skies, bringing lows around 30°F with gentle north northeast winds. Sunday will greet us with sunshine and calm winds, moving north to about 5 mph in the afternoon as temperatures peak near 41°F. The nighttime promises similar clarity and an expected low of around 29°F.
Looking ahead to M.L.King Day, we're told to expect conditions to remain pleasant and mostly sunny once more, with the mercury hovering around 41°F, the calm wind being a welcome constant. As the week unfolds, clouds will begin to gather—Monday night ushers in cloudier skies and a low near 31°F. Tuesday and Wednesday are looking to be replicas of one another: mostly sunny to partly sunny during the days with highs close to 42°F to 43°F, respectively, and nights will be partly to mostly cloudy while holding temperatures around the low 30s.
However, the NWS warns that as Thursday rolls in, so does the potential for precipitation – with a chance of rain forecasted and mostly cloudy conditions expected to prevail; daytime highs will remain consistent near 43°F, but by night, we could see the thermometer reading around 35°F. The probability of rain continues into Friday, though details on potential accumulation or impact on the region's weekend plans remain unclear, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 42°F to round out the week's weather outlook.
