Yesterday, Times Square's nightlife was disrupted by a violent incident that left two security guards with facial injuries, according to police sources. As reported by The New York Post, a scuffle broke out at the Circo Restaurant and Nightclub located on Broadway, between West 48th and West 49th streets due to a disagreement at the entrance related to bag checks. Officials say that the attack occurred just after 4:30 a.m. and resulted in two security personnel—a 21-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man—being slashed in the face. A third security guard was struck but declined medical treatment.
ABC7 New York reported that police are investigating the slashing, and while no arrests have been made, a person of interest was questioned at the 18th Precinct stationhouse. The victims were transported to Bellevue Hospital and are in stable condition. Authorities are currently working to piece together the circumstances that led to the attack within the club. The venue is part of an elaborate $4 million Latin entertainment complex that just opened last year.
The nightclub has been known to attract patrons into the late hours with its blend of lively music, dance floors, and various food offerings, like the adjoining Pizza & Bites eatery. The location, situated in the heart of Times Square, adds to the allure for those looking to experience New York City's classic nightlife.
