The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has escalated its efforts by issuing a Silver Alert for 60-year-old Danny Smith, who was reported missing from Greeneville. According to WATE, Smith left his home on the 400 block of Mulberry Road around 11 p.m. on Sunday with concerns for his well-being due to a medical condition that could impair his ability to return safely without assistance.
To widen the search, the Greene County Sheriff's Department has deployed a K-9 unit to the area where he was reported missing. WJHL reported that Smith is believed to have left on foot and could be disoriented, as his family has indicated he is very forgetful and likely suffering from "severe Alzheimer's." However, he has yet to be officially diagnosed. Smith was last seen wearing blue jeans and a maroon top over a gray sweatshirt, per WJHL.
Community members are strongly encouraged to immediately call 911 or the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND with any information that could help locate Smith. As WJHL details, the TBI issued the Silver Alert at 6:13 p.m. yesterday, recognizing the urgency of Smith's disappearance and the need to engage the public's help in the search promptly.
Further information about the ongoing search can also be sought by contacting the Greene County Sheriff's Department at 423-798-1800, as stated by a missing person's poster shared by Detective Lt. C. Michelle Holt and cited by WVLT.
