A prolonged standoff unfolded in the upscale Hollywood Hills neighborhood when a knife-wielding man attempted to break into a residence but ended up in custody after a six-hour confrontation with law enforcement. The incident began near the 3140 block of Hollyridge Drive around 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, as reported by Patch.
Arriving at the scene, officers encountered the suspect, described as a male between 35 and 50 years old, who had tried entering the home through the front door while the occupants were present. According to a KTLA report, refusing commands to cooperate with authorities, the man prompted an extended standoff that required a response from SWAT teams and mental health professionals shortly after 10:30 p.m.
Further details note that the suspect, who has not been identified, ran to the porch of the home trying to flee and settled there before eventually being taken into custody without further incident at approximately 2:20 a.m. Thursday.
