St. Louis is bracing for a mix of winter weather conditions in the coming days, with the National Weather Service providing a detailed forecast for the region. According to the latest update, residents can expect the partly sunny skies of today to gradually clear up, with an expected high of 35 degrees and winds gusting as high as 20 mph. As night falls, clouds will increase, with temperatures dropping to around 21 degrees.
The weekend forecast hints at more severe weather; Saturday will see mostly cloudy skies and a high near 31 degrees, while from Saturday night, a concoction of snow, sleet, and possibly freezing rain will start making roads treacherous—Sunday's conditions are particularly bleak, with a 100% chance of mixed precipitation, including ice accumulations of up to 0.3 inches and additional snow and sleet piling up to 3 inches, presenting a challenge to the city's preparedness strategies which are no doubt springing into action as the east winds pick up, gusting to a sharp 26 mph. Sunday night's forecast continues this chilly trend, as snow mixed with freezing rain transitions to all snow after 9 pm, with 3 to 5 inches of snow expected to accumulate.
Going into the next week, temperatures remain below freezing with Monday's high near 23 degrees under mostly cloudy skies; St. Louisans will see temps plummet further to a low of 8 degrees by Monday night. The cold stretch persists through midweek, with Tuesday offering sunshine albeit a meager high of 20 degrees and dipping to a low of 4 at night; midweek temperatures will struggle to rise, Wednesday is expected to hover around 17 degrees during the day, falling to the vicinity of zero at night, and Thursday rounds out the forecast with a continued cold snap delivering a high near 19 degrees.
