In the heart of winter's chill, the Pretrial Services Office of the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court is literally handing out warmth to those who grapple with the cold realities of housing instability, many of whom find themselves entangled in the criminal justice system. As reported on the court's website, their "Winter Donation Drive" kicked off on January 6 and will continue through the end of the month to collect essential items for individuals in need.

"Many defendants and victims of crime struggle with housing instability," acknowledges the initiative, recognizing the intersection between societal hardships, and the people it aims to serve. The office is accepting donations of winter hats, gloves, hand warmers, and snacks during business hours until January 31.

This year, in a thoughtful extension of their community outreach, Pretrial Services has added a literary layer to their philanthropic efforts by establishing a donation site for children's books. These contributions are destined for the shelves of a new library at the juvenile detention facility.

Those looking to make a donation can do so by visiting Room 108 at the Carnahan Courthouse, 1114 Market Street or partnering with Mission: St. Louis, located at 3108 North Grand Boulevard. Donations are welcomed between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., the Pretrial Office said.
