A series of break-ins that disturbed the local businesses of Wake County has led to the arrest of 40-year-old Billie Antwan Spencer, as the Wake County Sheriff's Office reported. These incidents stretched across November and December, targeting the Poor Boy General Store and Grill, Paul’s Grocery, and a Shell station, before culminating in Spencer's detainment on charges that include multiple felonies.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office obtained by Restoration News Media, the first break-in occurred on Nov. 9 at the Poor Boy’s store on Poor Boy Farm Road, with subsequent break-ins happening at Paul's Grocery on Poole Road on Dec. 10th, and then at the Shell Station located on Penny Road on Dec. 19. Spencer faces three counts each of felony breaking, felony larceny after breaking, and misdemeanor injury to real property.
Details from the CBS 17 report indicated that an approximate total of $6,300 in cash and additional quantities of cigarettes were stolen by Spencer. This included about $4,000 from the Poor Boy General Store, around $1,300 from Paul’s Grocery, and over $1,000 from the Shell station. Following his arrest yesterday, court records indicated he was not granted bond and is expected to make his first court appearance this afternoon.
Spencer's history of legal troubles comes into sharper focus given additional information from ABC 11. Already serving a 24-month supervised probation for a prior larceny incident in Rockingham County, he was allegedly found in violation of his probation conditions, having tested positive for illegal drugs on two occasions. With addresses listed in both Raleigh and Greensboro, Spencer now faces a compounded legal battle ahead, weighed down further by the new string of allegations that ties him to recent crimes unsettling the Wake County community.
