Two individuals are now facing charges after a high-speed police chase on Friday took a dangerous turn through a school zone before coming to an end in Roane County. The Kingston Police Department apprehended 33-year-old Zachary Littleton, the driver of the vehicle, and 57-year-old Regina Crosley, the passenger, after a multi-county pursuit of a reportedly stolen Chevrolet Tahoe, as confirmed by a report from WVLT-TV.

The chase started after Knox County and Loudon County law enforcement attempted to stop the vehicle, according to a spokesperson from the Loudon County Sheriff's Office. The pursuit, involving Knox County Sheriff's deputies, eventually led to Roane County's jurisdiction where the Roane County Sheriff’s Office managed to deploy spike strips to slow down the fleeing Tahoe. Despite a flattened tire, the Tahoe continued at speeds topping 50 mph through an active school zone in front of Kingston Elementary School, WBIR reports.

Authorities eventually brought the chase to a halt at the intersection of East Race Street and Paint Rock Ferry Road by forcing the vehicle off the road. Littleton, who was behind the wheel, now faces multiple charges including reckless endangerment, evading arrest, driving on a revoked license, reckless driving, and speeding in a school zone, according to information obtained by WATE. Crosley, who was a passenger in the Tahoe, was also taken into custody.

Furthermore, the Kingston Police Department indicated that it is collaborating with the Knox County Sheriff's Office to follow through on additional drug charges related to the incident. The coordinated response to the chase involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Knox County, Loudon County, Roane County Sheriff's Offices, and the Kingston Police Department, the latter clarified the charges being brought against Littleton and Crosley. Details about these additional charges have yet to be released as the investigation continues.
