Two separate instances of gunfire disrupted the streets of Brooklyn yesterday evening, leaving a trio of victims wounded, including a teenage boy. The first shooting occurred in Bedford-Stuyvesant, where a 15-year-old boy was struck in the ankle by bullets as a car approached him along Chauncey Street shortly after 7 p.m., as reported by ABC7NY. The young teen was subsequently transported to Maimonides Medical Center, where he received treatment for his injury.
By the same incident, a 32-year-old woman was also wounded, sustaining a graze wound to the chest. Despite being injured, she managed to walk herself to the New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, seeking aid. The victims are expected to recover, while police surmise the young boy may have been the intended target in the shooting which left at least ten shell casings as evidence, and regard the woman as an innocent bystander caught in the fray.
Later that evening, violence struck again around 9:20 PM. This time, shots were fired inside a deli located at 1742 Pitkin Avenue in Brownsville. A 28-year-old man found himself caught in the crosshairs, suffering a gunshot wound to his foot. Authorities, who had dispatched the victim to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition, are now in search of a suspect described as donning an orange winter jacket with a fur-trimmed hood, light blue jeans, and a black facemask, as detailed by a New York Post report. The motive behind this shooting remains uncertain.
No arrests have been made in connection with either shooting at this time. The investigations are ongoing as detectives work to piece together the circumstances of these violent outbursts that have once again shaken the community, and authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
