Three suspects were apprehended in connection with a commercial burglary in Camarillo, following a collaborative effort between local law enforcement agencies, according to a press release from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office. The suspects, identified as 29-year-old Cristian Uscanga from Downey, 43-year-old Sean Green from Long Beach, and 38-year-old Jahiro Benitez, also from Long Beach, were each charged with burglary under Penal Code 459, subsequently posting $30,000 in bail.

The initially unnoted offense occurred in the early hours of January 11, when the suspects forced entry into a business on the 4700 block of Pleasant Valley Road and absconded with lottery tickets and food items however, their freedom was short-lived due to an unrelated traffic stop, by the Burbank Police Department, around 4:20 AM, which led to their capture before the crime was even reported to Camarillo Police, as per the Ventura County Sheriff's Office. Following the Camarillo PD report at around 8:30 AM, the Advanced Real Time Information Center (ARTIC) quickly linked the detained individuals to the commercial burglary through surveillance footage and the gray pickup truck they were apprehended in.

This cross-jurisdictional detective work culminated in the discovery of evidence including burglary tools and stolen goods in the suspects' vehicle cementing their connection to the Camarillo incident, Detective Kenneth Ledesma's news release detailed. Two days post-crime, on January 13, the Ventura County Superior Court issued the warrants on which Uscanga, Green, and Benitez were arrested.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office seized this opportunity to advise local business owners on crime prevention strategies, suggesting the implementation of alarms, cameras, and lights to deter potential burglars, and emphasized the importance of keeping records of serial numbers for valuable items for ease of recovery and prosecution. "The Sheriff’s Office has investigators regularly searching for stolen property and can use the serial numbers to return stolen property to its rightful owner as well as prosecute criminals," they affirmed. Ventura County Crime Stoppers has offered a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and criminal complaint against those responsible for such crimes, with assurances that tipsters can remain anonymous when calling 800-222-TIPS (8477).
