Following the disruption caused by Winter Storm Cora, travelers at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport are seeing improvements in flight operations. After days of delays and cancellations, the number of delayed flights decreased to 958, with 34 cancellations, down from over 1,500 on Friday, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
Passengers are facing shorter wait times and fewer delays. Gabriela Cabezas shared with FOX 5 Atlanta, "We got a warning that our flight might be canceled or delayed, but thankfully it wasn't. We were worried, but everything turned out fine, and we even flew earlier than planned."
On Saturday, conditions were challenging, with long lines and significant cancellations. The FAA reported nearly 900 flight delays and about 350 cancellations, as stated by 11Alive. Stacey Honer, a passenger, described the inconvenience: "We spent 4 hours at the airport yesterday trying to get out. We were supposed to fly to Atlanta, but the snowstorm delayed everything. We were then supposed to fly to L.A., but ended up going back home last night after thinking we were going on vacation."
By Sunday, wait times at security checkpoints decreased to about 16 minutes. FlightAware data showed only 75 delays and 26 cancellations. Though the storm's immediate effects have lessened, travelers are still advised to check their flights for possible changes. Officials recommend arriving at least two hours before flights and staying updated on flight statuses to avoid disruptions.
