According to details provided by the Upper Darby police, the deceptive methods included two suspects engaging a homeowner, while a third kept watch and a fourth committed the theft. These tactics were used not only in private residences but also in local businesses such as El Chapulin Mexican Restaurant, where they engaged employees and wandered unauthorized into restricted areas, as mentioned by an employee to 6ABC.
In one particular incident on Cloverdale Avenue, as provided in a statement by homeowner Eusuf Khan to 6ABC, two women diverted his wife's attention while another infiltrated the home and stole nearly $30,000 worth of jewelry. Khan expressed relief that his family remained unharmed, stating, "They could have killed my wife, took my child or injured her." khan added, "Those are material things, and you cannot replace family." The crime occurred around 1 p.m. on a Friday and left the family feeling a sense of unsafety within their community.
