Valley Center Hosts Successful Pet Microchip and Vaccine Clinic Amid LA Fires, Attracts Residents from Escondido to VistaSource: County of San Diego

Valley Center saw an influx of furry friends this week as County Animal Services set up shop to offer a microchip and vaccine clinic for the four-legged members of the community. With recent fires blazing through Los Angeles, the importance of such services has been sharply highlighted. "It is critical to prepare before any disaster and make sure your pet is microchipped and vaccinated," Assistant Director at County Animal Services Rachael Borelli emphasized, as per the County of San Diego.

In the diligent efforts to better ensure the safety of pets, 100 pets were assisted during the clinic at the Valley Center Tractor Supply store. According to the County of San Diego, an impressive number of 75 pets were quickly microchipped. Microchips can be a vital tool to reunite lost pets with their owners, particularly in the chaos that natural disasters can bring. Beyond microchipping, pet owners could also utilize free vaccines, including much-needed rabies shots.

The clinic seemed to draw a larger crowd than anticipated, and they soon found themselves running out of microchips. "So many people showed up, that they ran out of the microchips on hand," Borelli shared, showcasing the community's proactive response to the safety of their pets, as cited by the County of San Diego. The clinic wasn't just limited to Valley Center residents, either. Pet owners from surrounding areas such as Ramona, Escondido, and Vista also took advantage of the services provided.
