
Earlier this week, streets of Wilmington were the scene of a drug bust conducted by the local police. A press release from the Wilmington Police Department detailed the incident and subsequent arrest of two individuals on drug-related charges. The operation unfolded in the vicinity of the 300 block of West 8th Street.
Richard Brown, 38, and Dashawn Latham, 27, of Philadelphia, were taken into custody last Friday, following observations by the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division of what appeared to be drug-related activity. The officers involved proceeded to conduct a search, which led to the recovery of an assortment of narcotics including 67.76 grams of marijuana and 2 MDMA pills. In addition to the drugs, police also seized $251 in cash from the scene.
As outlined by the authorities, Brown faces multiple charges: two counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. Wilmington Police's report indicates he received an arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and is currently being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $20,000 unsecured bail.
Latham, on the other hand, has been charged with a single offense: possession of controlled substance. Following his arraignment in the same court, he was released on his own recognizance. The legal proceedings for both men are expected to evolve as the case moves forward.
