Wilmington Woman Charged With Felony Assault After Alleged Chemical Spray Attack in Stanton ShopRite Parking LotSource: Delaware State Police

Wilmington has seen an uptick in the local crime blotter after a woman allegedly attacked several people with a chemical spray in a ShopRite parking lot in Stanton. Delaware State Police have arrested 28-year-old Jamira Loper, charging her with felony assault for an incident that occurred last Saturday afternoon.

According to details released by the Delaware State Police, a call was made to authorities at around 2:57 p.m. on January 18, reporting an assault. The trooper dispatched to the scene found several victims who had been sprayed—allegedly, by Loper—with mace. The victims, whom the police have opted to not name, encountered this attack while standing near their vehicle.

The incident left two adults and a teenager in need of hospital attention, suffering injuries to their face and neck areas from the mace. Another adult and a child also were assessed by emergency medical services on the spot. After running an investigation, the authorities carried out multiple attempts to track Loper down to enforce the arrest warrant they had obtained.

Loper surrendered at Troop 2 on January 20th and was subsequently charged with felony assault before being arranged at the Justice of the Peace Court 11. She was released on a $27,500 unsecured bond.
