A woman has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident that took place last month at a Greyhound bus terminal in Memphis. Sylvia Ray, 36, is accused of aggravated assault following the December 6, 2024 attack. According to reports by Action News 5, Ray was apprehended after detectives obtained physical evidence that linked her to the crime scene.
Law enforcement responded to a reported stabbing at the terminal on Airways Boulevard shortly after 5 a.m. Witnesses indicated that Ray, who appeared to be sleeping on a bench, suddenly woke up and following a visit to the restroom, returned to stab the man sitting on an adjacent bench in the neck with an unidentified object. Neither Ray nor the victim were acquainted prior to the incident, as detailed by the Memphis Police Department and documented by WREG News.
The investigation led to the collection of Ray’s fingerprints from a Krystal fast food box found at the scene, assisting in her identification. Surveillance footage from the bus station was also secured, according to FOX13 Memphis. This footage played a significant role in corroborating the sequence of events as described by witnesses.
The victim underwent a lineup on December 25, where he positively identified Sylvia Ray as his assailant, a fact corroborated by law enforcement agencies. At present, Ray is being held at the Shelby County jail on a $61,000 bond and is expected in court today.
