Earlier yesterday, a tragic incident unfolded in South Seattle, where a pedestrian lost her life after being hit by a vehicle. The fatal collision occurred on East Marginal Way South, close to South Orcas Street, according to a report by Seattle Police Department Blotter.
Shortly before 5:00 a.m., Seattle patrol officers rushed to the scene following the collision report. Despite their immediate response and providing emergency first aid, the Seattle Fire Department had to later pronounce the unidentified female victim dead at the scene. Walking in the lanes of traffic without a pedestrian crossing, the woman was struck by a northbound sedan, the driver of which remained on the scene and fully cooperated with the authorities.
An evaluation conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert concluded that there were no signs of impairment in the sedan's driver. This critical piece of information was shared as the police established a perimeter, awaiting the arrival of detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad to further examine the incident.
The specific circumstances leading up to the collision remain unclear, and the ongoing investigation seeks to piece together the moments before the tragedy struck. Individuals with any relevant information are encouraged to reach out and contact TCIS at 206-684-8923, as the community begins to grapple with the loss it was announced by the authorities.
