On Monday, during the Regular Meeting, Mayor Michael Caldwell swore in Phillip E. Friduss from Hall Booth Smith, P.C. as Woodstock's new city attorney. Friduss takes over the city’s legal matters, with the firm having served Woodstock for over 20 years, according to the City of Woodstock.
Eldon Basham recently retired from Moore Ingram Johnson & Steele after 34 years as City Attorney for Woodstock. His successor, Friduss, a partner at Hall Booth Smith in Atlanta, brings extensive experience, having represented over 225 public entities. He has been recognized as a Georgia Super Lawyer 16 times and included in Georgia Trend’s Legal Elite. Friduss is also actively involved in the DRI's Governmental Liability Committee, as reported by the City of Woodstock.
Friduss, from Hall Booth Smith, accepted the role of City Attorney for Woodstock, saying, "It is an honor and a pleasure to accept this appointment." His firm will handle litigation, property acquisitions, zoning, contract review, and general legal services. Woodstock City Manager Jeff Moon expressed confidence in Friduss, stating, "We’ve worked with Phil several times over the past few years and had the opportunity to see him in action," and added, "We look forward to working with Phil and the team at Hall Booth Smith going forward." The city's decision reflects trust in Friduss and his firm to manage its legal affairs effectively, as stated by the City of Woodstock.
