In a recent courtroom development, Seninta Parks, the father charged with the 2022 shooting death of his two-year-old daughter, has entered a no-contest plea. FOX 17 reported that Parks pleaded to second-degree murder, a felony firearm charge, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. In adherence to court protocol, the no-contest plea does not serve as an admission of the crime but allows for sentence determination as such.
WOODTV details reveal that the incident unearthed broad questions surrounding gun violence and mental health, having occurred in a Wyoming apartment. Undergoing several competency evaluations, Parks was initially designated as not fit to stand trial. Yet, after subsequent hearings, he was found competent and his case was advanced to the circuit court.
The tragic event dates back to February 9, 2022, when Parks fatally shot his daughter, Khalise Brewer, during a visit to his residence. WZZM13 highlighted that bodycam footage from responding officers captured the distressing scene. Police stated that life-saving measures for the child proved unsuccessful, as they bore witness to one of the most harrowing episodes of gun violence experienced in the community.
