The Georgia Department of Corrections is welcoming a new face to the upper echelon of its ranks with the promotion of Ylitha Woodard.
Having served previously as Business Manager at Metro Reentry Facility, Woodard's new role will be Deputy Warden of Administration at Rutledge State Prison, a change that took effect on November 16, 2024, according to a recent statement from Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC). Her promotion brings her responsibilities including the oversight of the facility's business office, property/supply operations, and food service departments.
With a commendable journey through the ranks since 2012, Woodard possesses a work ethic and leadership qualities that have not gone unnoticed. Commissioner Tyrone Oliver is quoted as stating, "Ylitha has demonstrated a strong work ethic and exceptional leadership skills during her tenure with the agency." He anticipates that her "wealth of knowledge" will lead to efficient operations within Rutledge State Prison's business office, as per GDC.
Woodard began her climb with the GDC as a Receptionist at their Headquarters before rapidly ascending through various financial operational roles—with her efforts culminating in her prior position as Business Manager. Enthusiastic about her past contributions, the department has seen a proven track record of success under her watch. Woodard has undergone extensive training, accruing a series of educational achievements, like Supervision I, II, and III, and certifications in governmental accounting and purchasing that only serve to bolster her readiness for the challenges ahead.
The Georgia Department of Corrections appears confident that Woodard's past experiences will illuminate her path as she takes on this significant administrative role, ensuring that the gears of Rutledge State Prison grind ever more smoothly under her guidance.
