The NCAA has denied Andrej Karic's request for a medical waiver that would have granted him an additional year of eligibility. Karic, who transferred from Texas to Tennessee, sustained an injury early in the 2023 season, according to WVLT.
Despite starting all 13 games for Tennessee during the team's College Football Playoff run in 2024, his petition for an extra season was not met with approval, as the injury occurred in his fifth game of the 2023 season, just after the four-game threshold for redshirt eligibility. Karic, instead of pursuing litigation, is now setting his sights on the professional league after signing with Capital Sports Advisors, as reported by Knox News.
The Tennessee Volunteers face a challenge replacing multiple offensive linemen ahead of the upcoming season, including Andrej Karic, All-SEC linemen Cooper Mays and Javontez Spraggins, and John Campbell, as stated by On3. Karic, who previously played for the Texas Longhorns and appeared in all 12 games in his final season without securing a starting position, transferred to Tennessee for more opportunities. As Karic prepares for the NFL Draft, Tennessee’s coaching staff will work to rebuild the offensive line by scouting new talent.
