A group of armed suspects is on the run following a brazen daylight robbery of an armored truck in Memphis last Friday. The incident, which took place outside First Horizon Bank on Mitchell Road, ended with the thieves making off with a sizable haul of cash, as Action News 5 reported. According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), the three men were driving a white Nissan Altima and were armed with assault rifles during the heist. No injuries have been reported, and the vehicle used in the robbery was located shortly after the incident.
The robbery struck a daring note amidst the morning routine, occurring at approximately 8:20 a.m. as the armored truck employee was servicing an ATM. The Memphis Police have been quick to try and identify the suspects responsible for the crime, releasing descriptions of the three men believed to be in their mid-20s—a thin man in a black hoodie and ski mask, another in a red and white Coca-Cola jacket, and a third also clad similarly to the first. "No arrest has been made but police said that this is an ongoing investigation," according to information from a WREG report.
Police are treating the case as a priority, calling for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. MPD is relying on the help of the public to help quickly apprehend the perpetrators before they can strike again. The descriptions provided by eyewitnesses depict that all three suspects were wearing ski masks during the robbery, and two were detailed as wearing black hoodies, black pants, and red gloves, as Local Memphis outlined.
Community response to the crime has been one of concern and a collective desire to see justice served.
