Battle Creek will soon be home to a $12 million aircraft factory, announced by the Dimor Group. The factory, located at the Battle Creek Executive Airport, will serve Waco Aircraft Corporation's campus and is expected to be completed by August. The 45,000-square-foot facility will focus on manufacturing parts for Junkers Aircraft models, according to WoodTV.
Junkers Aircraft is known for its handcrafted vintage-style airplanes, currently using parts made in Germany. "With this substantial investment from our founder Dieter Morszeck, JUNKERS Aircraft in the United States is extremely excited to expand our footprint in Southwest Michigan. We’re in the business of building and selling aircraft, but at our core, the mission really is to spread the passion for aviating in its purest form," said Sergio Barreto, CEO of DIMOR Group, in a statement to Battle Creek Enquirer. The factory is expected to create about 40 new production and assembly jobs over the next five years.
The DIMOR Group is also investing in local talent development. In partnership with Kellogg Community College's Regional Manufacturing Technology Center, the company will provide specialized training for its employees, as mentioned in the WZZM13 report.
The new Junkers Aircraft factory, as reported by the Battle Creek Enquirer, will feature state-of-the-art machinery, assembly fixtures, and all-new tooling to support aircraft production. "The vintage aesthetic of the JUNKERS A50 Junior and other models combines modern, luxurious features with stunning, classic designs. By investing in the latest technology and tooling at our soon-to-be 150,000 square-foot facility, we’ll continue to combine innovation with the handcrafted workmanship WACO Aircraft is already known for worldwide,” said Barreto.
