Winter weather has hit the Eastside, covering the area in snow and ice since Tuesday night, with more expected last night. Due to the conditions, the City of Bellevue has taken safety precautions, leading to the cancellation or postponement of city events and meetings yesterday and today, as established in the city's public announcement.
According to the city's official statement, among the impacted events is the Voices Unbounded Black History Month art exhibit opening reception, which was set to celebrate a moment in history but has now been postponed. The Arts Commission Meeting and the Law Enforcement Officer Disability Board Meeting have both been canceled. The disruptions continue today, with the Environmental Services Commission meeting also being removed from the calendar.
The changing climate conditions have also affected operational decisions for ongoing city endeavors. The Bellevue Network on Aging's meeting has transitioned to a virtual format for today. Meanwhile, the organizers behind the Curb Pricing Study Open House have opted for a mixed approach, keeping the in-person meeting set for this evening and adding a virtual component scheduled for Monday, Feb. 10, to accommodate those affected by the weather.
The winter weather has also affected local facilities. Parks & Community Services has adjusted its hours, and the public is advised to call ahead to confirm hours. Updated information is available on the Bellevue Parks & Community Services website.
