Seattle's Belltown neighborhood was shaken by a smash-and-grab robbery at Kemp's Cannabis on Wednesday morning, leaving behind a trail of destruction and unanswered questions. The scene, described by FOX 13 Seattle, involved a car that smashed into the marijuana dispensary's storefront as police encircled the premises.
The business co-owner, Tran Du, estimates that the burglars caused up to $25,000 in damage. In a somber yet resilient tone, Du conveyed to KING5, "It's not going to discourage me from continuing … It still highlights that there are still weaknesses." Du added, "We thought we had cover them all, but there's a still a few more weaknesses that we need to cover and we just learn from what happened."
According to My Northwest, surveillance footage revealed six to seven individuals entering the store and swiftly focusing on the cheaper merchandise. Du, who lives nearby, heard alarms and promptly alerted the authorities. "I was still on the phone with 911 and I told them, ‘Hey, I see a second car that just pulled up and there's more people getting out,'" Du recounted. He continued, describing the urgent scene, "And then all of a sudden, I can hear the sirens and then I heard them screaming, ‘Hey! Cops! Let's go!'" Moments later, the group had vanished, leaving behind only shattered display cases and muddy footprints. Crucially, it did not appear that any cash was taken.
