East Boston's Salesian Boys & Girls Club's after-school program had a four-legged visitor that made quite the impression on the children – Copper, the Boston Police Department's (BPD) Comfort Dog. The fluffy ambassador of goodwill was on site to provide a dose of joy and emotional support to the kids, an initiative that helps foster a better relationship between law enforcement and the community.
Copper seemed a natural at easing the atmosphere, bringing smiles and offering a calming presence as children flocked to embrace the canine. In return, Copper, the seasoned comfort pup adorned with a BPD vest, eagerly soaked up the affection during her visit. According to the BPD, the comfort dog program serves as a bridge to create positive connections. The BPD's website noted that Copper "is always ready to help us make a difference—one paw at a time!"
The BPD expressed gratitude on their website to the Salesian Boys & Girls Club, emphasizing that interactions like these leave a lasting positive impact on both the community’s youth and the officers involved.
