
A shooting in Byron Township has led to serious charges for an 18-year-old resident, Marquan Leron Brice, following the fatal wounding of 36-year-old Jeffrey Gamble. According to WWMT, the Kent County Sheriff's Office reported the incident occurred at Camelot Manor Mobile Home Community on Sunday evening.
The argument between Brice and Gamble, who had a shared residence and several years of acquaintance, escalated to violence, resulting in Gamble's death. Deputies responded to the scene around 5:35 p.m. after a report of a shooting, according to information from the sheriff's office. Following the altercation, Brice reportedly attempted to flee but was apprehended and taken to the Kent County Jail.
WZZM13 reported that Gamble suffered two gunshot wounds, one to the chest and another to the hip, and was still alive when paramedics arrived. However, he succumbed to his injuries, Gamble died at the hospital due to hemorrhaging as indicated in court documents.
Brice has been charged with one count of Homicide Open Murder Statutory and two counts of Felony Firearm, as detailed by MLive. These charges could lead to a life sentence if Brice is convicted. During his arraignment, the bond was denied. The preliminary hearing is slated for March 5, with a probable cause conference set for February 26.
