In recognizing the forthcoming Presidents' Day, Cambridge City officials have announced a temporary halt on the typical hustle of municipal operations. According to an announcement from the City of Cambridge, on Monday, February 17, government offices, public libraries, and senior centers will not be operating.
Parking enforcement is taking a holiday too, so leave your quarters at home. The City of Cambridge has confirmed, "payments will not be required at parking meters and parking pay stations." The gates of Cambridge Cemetery at 76 Coolidge Avenue will welcome visitors from dawn until dusk, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., yet those seeking administrative assistance should postpone their business, as the office will not be staffed.
Cambridge residents should also note that trash collection services will be on a brief hiatus. "Curbside trash, recycling, and compost collection will be suspended on the holiday and one day behind schedule for the rest of that week," as mentioned in the City of Cambridge statement. Street cleaning and yard waste services continue their winter break and will return in April.
Notifications on the modified schedule can be delivered via text, email, or app notifications by downloading the "Zero Waste Cambridge" app. The City of Cambridge encourages residents to sign up for a variety of notifications, including snow emergency parking bans and crime alerts that can be accessed through the city's subscription page.
